Chapter 2 Question

Types of writing I've done in the past week:
Texting
Instagram
Grocery List
Calendar notes
Order Tickets
Notes for school
Minutes for meetings
Essay

Texting is making a conversation with someone and is a very informal type of writing using emoji's, abbreviations, poor grammar, and possibly pictures.
A grocery list is a list that most likely only I will see and use, it is also informal.
An essay is a more formal type of writing and follows certain guidelines.

Texting:
I know when I'm texting my boyfriend it is an informal and lighthearted conversation. I know that my audience(my boyfriend) is expecting humor, abbreviations, emoji's, things of the sort. I use a light tone. But, last week, I needed his help building a desk. So, I had to be a little more persuasive and convince him to help me. I explained to him what the task was, how long it would take, and how much his help would mean to me. We were still texting about the situation so I still used abbreviations, poor punctuation, and average texting etiquette.

Grocery List:
I was making a grocery list that most likely only I would see since I was buying my own groceries.
I titled the list of items and proceeded to write out all the things I needed from the store. Certain things I doodled small pictures next to to help me remember what brand or size to get. My list did not have much of a writing tone stance since I really just needed some groceries. My main purpose of the list was to remember all things I needed from the store.

Essay:
The essay I wrote was about a response to a news report. My audience was my teacher, so I used proper formatting, grammar, and punctuation. My goal was to explain my position on the news article and if I felt the article was biased. I did not need to persuade my teacher to agree with my opinion, just explain it. My tone was serious in a sense that I did not use any type of humor or write as if speaking with my friends. But, I used a medium tone, given I was explaining my response to the topic and article.
