Thesis: CoverGirl makeup consists of a wide variety of beauty products encouraging being unique but still promoting the need to wear makeup.
Evidence: I will use examples of actual advertisements from the company, quotes from the ads, background information from their website, and information on the subject matter. I have some knowledge of the company because I wear their makeup product and see their ads.
Citing: So far, my plan is to only refer to the ads and potentially the CoverGirl website. Given that is where I will get most of my information. Such as what the ads are for, the audiences, the advertising techniques and messages behind the selected ads.
Opening: I will be analyzing three different recent CoverGirl ads trying to sell mostly eye makeup. All of the products include being bold and different by using dramatic makeup. I chose to analyze these ads and look closer at them because I think that makeup ads are looked at lightly and not as deeply considered as I think they should be. They really send a message to the customers, and I want to explain and develop that idea. I am claiming that my thesis will provide good information for the rest of my essay and convey clear ideas to my readers.
Closing: For the closing, which I will write last, after my essay is almost finished, I will include most of the same information that is included in my opening. I will show all the ads and summarize the main idea of my entire essay and touch on the bigger points that I want my readers to remember, such as my thesis. my analysis will be important because it will take a deeper look at these popular makeup ads and what makes them so positive and intriguing.
